AP Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Automatic
AP Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Automatic Next Generation, New Caliber 7138
The Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar luxury replica watches has been completely mechanically remodeled and is powered by the new Caliber 7138.
When Audemars Piguet held its annual launch event about a year ago, the brand unveiled a very attractive Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Automatic, created by artist and experienced collector John Mayer. In addition to the extremely fine dial, Audemars Piguet made a very important statement. This watch marked the swan song of the Caliber 5134, becoming the last watch to be equipped with a movement based on the 1972 Royal Oak. Well, without further ado, let's get straight to the point: this is the new generation Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Automatic (ref. 26674), debuting the Caliber 7138, a very clever movement that is a clear improvement over the old one. A great way to mark the beginning of the 150th anniversary celebrations for Audemars Piguet.
Modern mechanics, new calibre 7138
Perpetual calendars are a long tradition at Audemars Piguet. Notably, in 1955 the company released the world’s first perpetual calendar watch with leap year indication, nine of which were produced between 1955 and 1957. Some 20 years later, in 1978, at the height of the quartz crisis, Audemars Piguet released what was then the world’s thinnest automatic perpetual calendar watch, the calibre 2120/2800, its thinness made possible by the combination of the ultra-thin calibre 2120 and the slim QP module. Now for the important part of today’s topic, the first Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar watch released in 1984 (reference 5554), which relied on this movement – in fact, the same base movement was used in the original Royal Oak Jumbo 5402ST from 1972 – and which remained in production until 2022. replica watches review
