It's also normal for advertising to be seen within the game. Donohue claims it's common to watch the basketball game from the court advertisements. This allows players to "be a part" of the game's virtual reality.

With a loyal fan base, the NBA 2K League has established itself as a viable product. However, Donohue claims "we think we're only getting started." He points out the 1.9 billion people who follow the NBA on social media as a large potential pool.

There's also the question of whether NBA 2K could be used to draw new basketball fans in the manner that Ted Leonsis, Washington Wizards owner and media mogul has suggested. Donohue is a perfect example of this and is too far away from where I live.

He started quoting from the Warriors roster of Steph Curry, and I was like, "How is it possible that he's up till 10 pm in the evening to watch these games? He's seven years old!"
